You can't judge a floor from a coaster.

Hardwood varies plank to plank. A small chip hides the range you'll actually live with. . Big boards show real grain length, bevel, and sheen, which are the things people regret later. Lay two or three side by side next to your cabinets and trim before you commit. . Take them home. Look at them at 7am and again at 7pm before you decide.
